Phase 1 is designed to protect holders of registered community trademarks, national trademarks, trademark licensees and public bodies while holders of 'Other Rights' under community or national law of an EU state will be eligible to apply for .EU names under Phase 2. 'Other Rights' will include unregistered trademarks, company names, trade names, business identifiers, distinctive titles of protected literary and artistic work and family names.
Each Phase will last for two months. An extra charge will be made for evaluating a Sunrise period application. The level of this fee will depend on the category of applicant. Applicants are only accepted from the public bodies concerned.
